After news reports of an October 2015 bombing in Ankara, Turkey (a city I love), I checked in more often on a website for a then-independent Turkish newspaper. It was soon clear that the current President had let success go to his head. Not only was he unable to stand criticism and satire (interpreted as "insults" that required court appearances and possible imprisonment) but he even had the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey re-written personally for him. And so I made some cartoons to make fun of him. After the coup attempt of July 15, 2016, I suspended that activity due to the seriousness of the situation.
